The Chisum Cowboy's Gun Club is a SASS ( Single Action Shooting Society) approved gun club. SASS is an international organization created to preserve and promote the sport of Cowboy Action Shooting. SASS promulgates rules and procedures to ensure safety and consistency in Cowboy Action Shooting matches, and seeks to protect its members 2nd Amendment rights. SASS members share a common interest in preserving the history of the Old West and competitive shooting.

Every SASS member is required to adopt a shooting alias appropriate to a character or profession of the late 19th century, a Hollywood western star, or an appropriate character from fiction. Their costume is then developed accordingly. For more info about SASS please visit www.sassnet.com

Cowboy Action Shooting is a multi-faceted shooting sport in which contestants compete with firearms typical of those used in the taming of the Old West. The shooting competition is staged in a unique, characterized, "Old West" style. It is a timed sport in which shooters compete for prestige on a course of different shooting stages.

Each scenario or stages, as they are called, features an array of situations, many based on famous incidents or movies scenes, in which the shooters must test their mettle against steel targets.

What you would need to get started:
EAR & EYE PROTECTION A MUST
Holsters or rig setup.
2 single action revolvers .32cal or larger
1 pistol caliber lever or pump action rifle
1 old time shotgun (side x side w/or without hammers, 1897 pump or 1887 lever)

Ammo per stage:
10 pistol rounds
10 rifle rounds
6+ shotgun shells
Always make sure to bring extra ammo. Some stages might be a little different from time to time.
